87-year-old performer Dick Van Dyke barely turned away catastrophe minutes prior on a L.a. expressway --when his Jaguar blast into flares --however gratefully, he was pulled to security just under the wire.
The brave person who saved him is a fellow named Jason Pennington, who said he was driving along the 101 when he saw an auto full of smoke as an afterthought of the street ... also an elderly man slouched over at the wheel.
Pennington lets us know, he pulled up and ran over to uncover Dick Van Dyke battling inside.
