Zoe Kravitz Talks “Divergerent” & Jennifer Lawrence in ASOS April 2014

Zoe Kravitz Talks “Divergerent” & Jennifer Lawrence in ASOS April 2014

She’s gearing up for the premiere of her highly anticipated film “Divergent” and during promotions, Zoe Kravitz soaked up the spotlight by covering the April 2014 issue of ASOS magazine
While rocking a few poses for the Ben Sullivan-shot spread, the 25-year-old actress dished about her former co-star Jennifer Lawrence and shared details about the upcoming action-packed flick.
Highlights from Miss Kravitz’s interview are as follows. For more, be sure to pay a visit to ASOS!
On Jen’s Oscar win:

“I go to Madonna’s Oscar party every year and it’s my favorite night. It’s like a house party, no cameras, no Instagram, just everybody dancing their a**es off. [After hearing about the Oscar nominations I texted Jen] I was like, ‘Really?!’ She texted back, ‘I know, people are going to think I’m sleeping with one of the Academy or something.’ But when it’s people you know getting nominated for Oscars, it’s like, wow, my generation’s here now, we’re being paid attention to.”
On “Divergent”:

“It’s a nerve-wrecking process. The book has fans and people are expecting things. They have ideas of what it should look like, or who should play which characters. I wasn’t aware of the books before I read the script, but that was a good thing, because I probably would have freaked out.”
On her music career:

“I’m always nervous performing, always… I have a shot of whisky! No, you just let it go, get over it. It’s part of the fun. I’m not in a place musically where I’m comfortable. We got lucky when we played New York, it was all friends. I looked in the audience and it was everyone I knew. Whereas somewhere like The Shacklewell Arms in London, they didn’t know the music, they didn’t know me. That was a little scary.”

AUSTRALIAN music fans downloaded more albums than they bought physically in 2013 for the first time since iTunes launched here in 2005.

And while Australians bought more digital albums than actual CDs in 2013, hipsters and audiophiles are leading a vinyl resurgence with LP sales up a whopping 77 per cent.
Daft Punk’s Random Access Memories was one of the most sought-after vinyl releases last year.
The annual ARIA wholesale report discovered we finally caught up with the rest of the world in buying albums online even though there was a small drop in the volume of single tracks downloaded.

ARIA CEO Dan Rosen said hardcore music consumers here had clung to the “physical manifestation” of their fandom.
While vinyl releases are generally bundled with a code which allowed the fan to also download it, the black plastic is enjoying a renaissance as culturally cool.
Audiophiles who bristle at the compression of digital files prefer the warm, lush crackle of the record.
“You take your music around on your mobile device during the day and impress your friends at night by playing records,” Rosen said.
“People like to check out someone’s vinyl collection to work out what sort of person you are and you would have to steal their phone to do that via playlists.
“We found most of the vinyl sales were for new releases rather than heritage reissues and Daft Punk’s record was very big on vinyl.”
Artists who have protested the minuscule royalties returned by streaming will not be heartened by ARIA’s figures which show revenue from services such as Spotify and Pandora doubled to $ 20.9 million last year.
A recent leaked report of the rates paid by on-demand digital music platforms and subscription services estimated Spotify pay as little as $ 0.00521 per stream.
Australian labels lost almost 12 per cent of their recorded music revenue last year in a “transition period” which provoked new artist deals to leverage income from tours, merchandise and sync deals with television and film.
“Overseas we have seen it takes a couple of years for streaming services to grow financially but it was momentous that digital sales overtook physical last year,” Rosen said.

Kerry Washington: Everyone Should Embrace Their Imperfections!

Kerry Washington: Everyone Should Embrace Their Imperfections!

She’s known for her flawless acting talents and keen red carpet fashion sense, but even Kerry Washington admits she has a few insecurities.
During a recent interview with Doobop.com’s Jodie Patterson, the “Scandal” star revealed she wouldn’t be as beautiful without the imperfections.
When Miss Patterson declared how “perfect” she was, Miss Washington quickly stated, “I think you’re wrong! I think it looks that way. But the reality is we all have nerves and moments of insecurity…”
She continued, “But if I said to myself that I’m only going to show up, or speak or be visible when I’m perfect, I would never get out of bed. I [show up] to be of service and to be used for something greater. It’s about knowing what I am in this moment is what I need to be, and going for it. The ‘imperfections’ are actually a gift.”
Also discussing her ultimate beauty secrets, Kerry explained, “I came into beauty and fashion much later in life – like after college and when I had to walk red carpets. I became a student of fashion and beauty, I want to soak in those relationships to understand and be informed. Even now, when I go to fashion shows and look at the clothing, hair and makeup, it’s like going to an opening at the Met or a Broadway show. It’s a moment to take in artistry.”
“It took me forever to allow my makeup artist to do bright red lips! Sometimes it takes someone saying to you, ‘Do you know how beautiful your lips are? You should try wearing red lipstick.”
“You can learn how to embrace your own unique beauty, celebrate your unique gifts and then have confidence around them,” she added.

Katy Perry & John Mayer: It’s Over!

They’ve always had a tumultuous relationship and now it seems Katy Perry and John Mayer have called it quits on their romance once again.
While details are still scarce, an inside source told E! News that the “Roar” songstress kicked her “No Such Thing” beau to the curb over the course of the past week.
To that end, John didn’t accompany Katy to London and Milan earlier this month despite earlier rumors of a secret engagement.
Perry guest sang on Mayer’s single “Who You Love,” and the two really seemed to have moved past their on/off tendencies.
In a previous interview, Katy gushed, “I’ve been a fan of John’s for years before I got to actually kiss him. I’ve been such a fan, I think he’s so incredibly talented and gifted and a genius songwriter. So to be a part of anything he was doing was just natural.”

Alec Baldwin Says Goodbye To Public Life & Gives His Opinion on Shia LaBeouf in New York Magazine

Alec Baldwin Says Goodbye To Public Life & Gives His Opinion on Shia LaBeouf in New York Magazine

He’s dealt with loads of drama over the past year due to his infamous tweets and apparent “gay bashing,” but now Alec Baldwin is ready to clear the air in his very own tell-all letter.
In the latest issue of New York Magazine, the “30 Rock” star opened up about everything including his side of the infamous altercation that led to his MSNBC termination and plans for his new life away from the spotlight.
Highlights from Mr. Baldwin’s letter are as follows. For more, be sure to visit New York Magazine!
On homosexuals:

“I find myself bitter, defensive, and more misanthropic than I care to admit. And I’m trying to understand what happened, now an altercation on the street, in which I was accused -wrongly – of using a gay slur, could have cascaded like this. There’s been a shift in my life. And it’s cause me to step back and say, ‘This is happening for a reason.’ Am I a homophobe? Look, I work in show business. I am awash in gay people, as colleagues and as friends. I’m doing ‘Rock of Ages’ one day, making out with Russell Brand. Soon after that, I’m advocating with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Cynthia Nixon for marriage equality. I’m officiating at a gay friend’s wedding. I’m not a homophobic person at all. But this is how the world now sees me.”
On his termination from MSNBC:

“Once they fired me, a former MSNBC employee I knew emailed me. He said, ‘You watch now, Phil [Griffin] is going to start leaking left and right to bury you.’ When I left, ‘Page Six’ was flooded with lies about me. Another source told me, ‘You know who’s going to get you fired, don’t you? Rachel. Phil will whatever Rachel Maddow tells him to do. I think Rachel is quite good at what she does. I also think she’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”
On New York:

“I just can’t live in New York anymore. Everything I hated about L.A. I’m beginning to crave… I want my newest child to have as normal and decent a life as I can provide. New York doesn’t seem the place for that anymore. L.A. is a place where you live behind a gate, you get in a car, your interaction with the public is minimal. I used to hate that. But New York has changed. It’s goodbye to public life. I’ve lived this for 30 years, I’m down with it.”
On Shia LaBeouf:

“[LaBeouf] seems to carry with me, to put it mildly, a jailhouse mentality wherever he goes. I’d heard from other people that he was potentially very difficult to work with, but I always ignore that because people say the same thing about me. When he showed up, he seemed like a lot of young actors today – scattered, as he was coming from making six movies in a row or whatever. He had that card, that card you get when you make films that make a lot of money that gives you a certain kind of entitlement. I think he was surprised that it didn’t work in the theater.”

Norman Reedus Hints “Walking Dead” Love Interests in NYLON Guys March 2014

Norman Reedus Hints “Walking Dead” Love Interests in NYLON Guys March 2014

With his horror-drama series “The Walking Dead” continuing to be a small screen hit, Norman Reedus fronted the March 2014 issue of NYLON Guys magazine.
During his interview with the publication, the 45-year-old actor chatted about his character Daryl Dixon and revealed details about his tennis playing days.
Highlights from Mr. Reedus’ interview are below. For more, be sure to visit NYLON Guys!
On Daryl’s love interest plans:

“Sometimes they suggest this or that, but if Daryl’s going to get busy with another character it has to be just right. The producers are smart, man. Smart enough to know that Daryl can’t have the kind of love interest that you might think. I feel pretty strongly about it.”
On Daryl’s rise to fame:

“That may be the most bizarre part of all of this. I don’t think any actor ever envisions being an action figure. It’s one of those Hollywood bonuses no one tells you about.”
On his acting:

“I was born to play the bad guy, I guess. I have a suspicious look to me. Plus, I think a lot about the reasons people fight. Their back is against the wall; They’re bullied; They’re angry.”
On his tennis days:

“I studied with a coach who approached me at a tournament and offered to train me because he thought I had potential. He came to my house, spoke with my mom, and that was that. I was off. I was good, man. I played the junior tour circuit, against guys who had all the fancy equipment and the shoes and everything. I was in, like basketball shoes and had a toy racket. I was surprised I made it as far as I did.”

Since Valentine’s Day, the awards show marks the second occasion for which Katy has sported the ring in public, the first being the time she and John dined at Sunset Towers in Los Angeles for the holiday.
However, for all the hype surrounding the song stars’ relationship, sources have stated that they are not engaged, and that plans to wed have not been discussed.

Electro-pop princess Ellie Goulding hadn’t put out a new album in more than a year but the unstoppable second record Halcyon scored her another Brit Award today.

The golden-voiced singer and songwriter was almost speechless when she was presented with the Best British Female Artist gong by one of her heroes, Prince.
A string of singles have kept her in the global charts in the two years since releasing her second album and its refreshed version Halcyon Days.
Even as her latest single Goodness Gracious makes its impression on the airwaves, the song which has become her biggest hit continues to dominate the airwaves.
Burn simply won’t die.
Goulding has been having that problem with her singles regularly since releasing her second album Halcyon with its hit Anything Can Happen not only performing strongly on the charts but also used extensively on television promos and ads.

KATY Perry was crowned Woman of the Year at the 2014 Elle Style Awards, held in London last night.

And in a bit of pop star baton-passing, the 29-year-old Roar singer was handed her award by none other than Australia’s own Kylie Minogue. The pair also posed for pictures together on the red carpet.

Models mystified at INXS slight

INXS and Models were once rock’n’roll road buddies who shared Chris Murphy as their manager.
But the Models are “pissed off” about their mention in the Never Tear Us Apart TV biopic.
Drummer Barton Price and supporters of the band took issue with a comment made by Murphy’s character in a scene when he was revving INXS up about focusing on international success rather than staying in Australia.
After a week of stewing about the sledge, Price hit back on social media on the weekend.
‘The suggestion was that by INXS attempting to break internationally they were different and superior to us: ‘…or you can come back here and be the Radiators or the Models’,” Price said, quoting the line used by Murphy’s character.
“What the! We spent a lot of time and effort working internationally and entered the American top 40.
“But the biggest irony is that Chris Murphy, the very same character using us as a negative benchmark in the INXS soap opera, was our manager for that entire period. He was the very person directing our international efforts!”
The bands crossed paths throughout their careers, notably as part of the cast of the Australian Made concerts, a festival of local acts including INXS, Models, Jimmy Barnes, Divinyls and more which travelled the country in 1987.
Price said the comment was set in 1982 in the show and while they would not tour the US for a few years after that, they were already in discussions with American labels and had recorded and played in the UK at the time.
The photo of the band on their Wikipedia page shows frontman Sean Kelly during a gig in San Francisco in 1986.
“Let’s not forget Models and INXS paths crossing on numerous occasions in London, New York, or a very memorable dinner in Milwaukee,” Price said.
“Models and INXS did many shows together, we had a lot of laughs, drank more than a few beers, hung out a lot, even played soccer against each other — I thought we were friends.”
Price remains mystified as to why his band were sledged in the series and said every Australian band during the era had their eye on the international prize.
Models, in fact, scored a mention in the Andy Warhol diaries after he had seen the video for their song Evolution.
“So why did they bag us the other night? What was the benefit? Couldn’t they think of another band that actually hadn’t tried to break internationally?” Price said.
“Perhaps that’s the point. INXS weren’t as different as Chris Murphy would like to believe. Yes, they were more successful than the rest of us, but just about every major Australian act of the day had an international deal of some sort, and was doing their best to achieve wider glories.”

Jennifer Lawrence Misses BAFTAs for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” Reshoots in Montreal

Jennifer Lawrence Misses BAFTAs for “X-Men: Days of Future Past” Reshoots in Montreal

Taking care of some career duties, Jennifer Lawrence took a break from the set of “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in Montreal, Canada on Sunday (February 16).
The “Silver Linings Playbook” babe looked a bit chilly as she stepped out of her hotel to look for her chauffeured car following a day of reshoots for her forthcoming flick.
Meanwhile, on Sunday night J. Law was honored with the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture trophy at the 2014 BAFTA Awards, however she wasn’t in attendance to accept the award.
Given her responsibilities with “X-Men” Lawrence requested that her director pal David O Russell pick up the hardware on her behalf, though she received some criticism for neglecting to attend.

Miley Cyrus Channels Monica Lewinski on Stage in Vancouver:

By now it’s pretty clear that she loves pushing boundaries and on Friday (February 14) in Vancouver, Canada, Miley Cyrus launched her Bangerz tour doing just that.
While singing “Party in the USA” from a previous album, the 21-year-old songstress was joined by American symbols including Mount Rushmore, the Statue of Liberty, dancers dressed like Uncle Sam, and a man in a Bill Clinton mask.
Amongst all the twerking, the “Wrecking Ball” singer channeled Monica Lewinski and sung into her microphone dangerously close to Bill’s crotch. Check out the video below for the risqué move.
On Sunday, an amped up Miley tweeted, “Up & at em! 2nd show #bangerztour Vancouver was turnt up! Tacoma I hope you’re ready for this.”

Beyonce Remixes “Drunk in Love” with Kanye West

Beyonce Remixes “Drunk in Love” with Kanye West

Bringing new sound to one of her most successful tracks, Beyonce created a remix of “Drunk in Love” with Kanye West.
In a teaser for the new rendition of her song, Beyonce struts her stuff around a horse ranch, wearing less-than full coverage cowgirl gear, throwing around a lasso, and bouncing around to Yeezy’s voice.
The complete song features the voices of both pop artists for a lengthy 6 minutes and 43 seconds, and also includes Jay Z’s original rap toward the end. Jay’s explicit words featuring his lady’s “breastises in my breakfast,” pale in comparison to Kanye’s lyrics.
Singing about sex positions and other explicit details, Kanye sings, “You will never need another lover. Cuz you a MILF and I’m a mother f***er.”

Ellen Page Comes Out At Time to THRIVE Conference

Ellen Page Comes Out At Time to THRIVE Conference

Making a bold statement to friends and fans alike, Ellen Page attended Time to THRIVE, a conference supporting the LGBT community, and revealed that she is a lesbian.
Standing up, the “X-Men: Days of Future Past” starlet delivered a speech, saying, “I’m here today because I am gay, and because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time.”
The 26-year-old continued, saying, “Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility. It’s weird because here I am, an actress, representing, at least in some sense, an industry that places crushing standards on all of us. Not just young people, but everyone. Standards of beauty. Of a good life. Of success. Standards that, I hate to admit, have affected me.”
“You have ideas planted in your head, thoughts you never had before,” Ellen said, adding, “That tell you how you have to act, how you have to dress and who you have to be. I have been trying to push back, to be authentic, to follow my heart, but it can be hard.”
After the Human Rights Campaign tweeted about the news, Ellen utilized her Twitter account as well, writing, “Thank you @HRC and everyone for all the love and support.”
